The only thing you'll have left will be your compass.
So you need to know where the land is.
That's basically the most important thing you need to know.
So, you have a compass, you get to the land, find some sort of a fairway and get into the closest harbour where you can deal with all your problems.
If you have a microwave oven, you may put your electronics in it.
They say it'll give it a chance not to get destroyed.
But it isn't 100% guaranteed.
It has a small grille, you know and that grille is supposed to protect your electronic equipment So, if you have a microwave oven, you may just put your phones and other things you need in it.
If your laptops fit in the oven, you may also put them there, they will be relatively safe.
And if you are in the situation when all your devices are dead and you know where to go, your task is reduced to just using your compass.
Additionally, when the lightning strikes, you will probably be in the state of shock.
Over the course of 5 to 10 minutes you will not be able to move.
You'll be just be lying on the floor in the state of shock.
Naturally, I have never been in a situation like this one.
I do my best not to leave the marina during thunderstorms and my boat doesn't have a lightning ground.
Because setting up a lightning ground for a boat, especially if the keel is long, is a quite a big problem, frankly speaking.
That is why we try not to leave the marina during thunderstorms.
But, if the situation we mentioned did occur somehow and the boat doesn't have a lightning ground, our next step will be stopping the leak caused by a hole.
Or unfolding a life raft if the boat starts sinking.

So, I guess that's all I wanted to say about lightning strikes.
There are plenty of forums where this problem is discussed, actually.
You may check them out.
But the main idea there is that for sailing offshore you do need to set up a lightning ground.
You need to have something like a microwave oven, for example, so you could put your devices in it.
That's basically their conclusion.
So there isn't any universal method, unfortunately.
It just turns out that there is no contact with water, only with plastic.
Since there is no contact, the possible path of least resistance is situated elsewhere.
So, the lightning is less likely to strike your yacht in this case.
